Do you know how long a minute is?

The children were given the challenge of working out by counting in their heads, how long a minute was.
Watch this video and see if you can tell who was the closest.

Did you work out who was the closest?

Measuring UP!

This is the first lesson that Whaea Moana took.  For those of you that don't know we have a great student teacher joining our class for the next few weeks.  She is really enthusiastic and can't wait to teach the children lots of interesting things about measuring.

Keep your eyes and ears open - because this won't be the last you hear about the exciting lessons we are having with Whaea Moana.

Sativa's Mousey Treat

My Nana made these mouse biscuits for my brother and I.  When we stayed with Nana we had a mouse day.  We made mice biscuits.  The mouse's body is made out of chocolate cookies.  The mouse's ears are peanuts.  The mouse's tail was liquorice.  It's eyes were silver balls.  They are yummy.
Thanks Nana

At bit of a puzzle

What a surprise? Yesterday we had one of the children in Room 4 bring us a little bit of a puzzle.  What do you think these things that Justus is holding are?

I found them in my Mum’s office.  My Mum gave the piece of paper to me because she didn’t need them.  You can use them like a puzzle or you might be able to put them together like an elephant trunk.  I like them as robot arms.  I would be called Robo if I was a robot.

My name is Justus and I am a Year 3.  I hope you can give me some ideas about what you think they might be useful for?

COPS Winter Sports

Wow! What an awesome day we had with the other Otorohanga Area schools.  Thank you to the Otorohanga College students that were our referees for the day. Great work!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and hope we did our school proud.  I know the children were very proud to be able to wear their new school shirts - and yes, they do look great but we still haven't decided on the school's new logo.

If you want to know how the children really felt about their day playing soccer with all the other Year 3 and Year 4 students - have a look at the video below.
